Falcon Fraud Monitoring System
On Monday,
March 19th, Falcon was turned on to monitor for Fraud on your debit
and ATM cards. Falcon Fraud Manager uses neural network technology to balance
hundreds of variables and to weigh key attributes and identify transaction
behaviors and spending patterns to each card account. Cardholder patterns are
recorded and learned by the Falcon software to help identify transactions that
represent unusual spending patterns by the cardholder. Factors include things
like frequency, transaction types, and purchase locations, which are combined to
help Falcon distinguish normal from abnormal usage. The longer they monitor your
transactions, the smarter it becomes.
Falcon has
a scoring threshold that allows them to decide the risk threshold for each
transaction. If the risk of the transaction is high enough, they will place a temporary
block on your card and attempt to contact you using the most recent
Credit Union data on record. This is why it is crucial for us to have accurate
and updated cardholder information. Accurate cardholder data contributes to
early resolution of cases and minimizes the length of temporary blocks on card
accounts.
If you are
contacted by Falcon, the representative will not ask for any identifying
information, they will simply ask to confirm the validity of a transaction. If
you are not available, they will leave a message. You can return their call at 1-877-505-8474,
at this time you will be asked to verify your identity. This information may
include: date of birth and the last four digits of the social security number-
but never the complete social security number. You will also only be required to
provide the last 4 numbers of the Debit/ATM card and your name as it appears on
the card.
If you are
traveling abroad, you can notify Falcon by calling the 877 number. Falcon does
not adjust their procedures due to travel plans, because, even though you are
traveling you are still at risk for fraudulent transactions on your Debit/ATM
card. This means that your card
could be shut down while traveling. If this happens please contact us and we will verify your
transactions and get your card up and running if everything is valid; this
happens only during Credit Union Business Hours. If after hours, please
contact Falcon collect at 651-361-2021.
